detoxification

When I fist read the word detoxification, I thought of something larger than life, like getting rid of the pollution in the oceans or soil.

Like most people, I was used to the word detox.

You know, the metabolic process by which toxins are changed into more excretable substances. The period of medical treatment during which doctors help us overcome physical and psychological dependence on alcohol and drugs.

But now, I support the broader use of detoxification.  Because given the devastated state of this planet, the health of its inhabitants, and even the atmosphere, detoxification times one thousand is what we need.

On the other hand, the problem with abbreviated words is the loss of its net weight.

If I go through detox for the 7th time in my life, I must have failed before, right? And if my parents payed for it, I can even brag or joke about it.

Whereas if I use the full word, the length of its 14 terms will make me think twice before I get wasted again.  Well, that is if you trust in the power of words.  Good luck if you don´t!
