Happiness. How underrated, right? Well, it’s the basis of our primal drives and a large denominator of our psyche and cognitive map for behavior and patterns of life. Being able to take care of our needs, from physical to social, and ultimately a higher plane, alcohol and drugs may interrupt the natural waves and overall perceptions of pain and pleasure. They may help during challenging times but can interrupt someone’s lifestyle in the short term. Getting sober means learning new behaviors, belief systems, and even nurturing with sleep and food. Recovery is more than just not taking drugs or alcohol.
