dogma

I once had a dog who didn´t play.

He didn´t like fetching the ball nor the frisbee.

His name was Dogma.

It was a gift from my grandparents who lived in Denmark.

They gave it to me under only one condition.

He had to keep his name.  Dogma, could never be renamed, not even after he landed in London with me and my parents.  We moved there in 1991, and I was only a 6 year-old boy.

The puppy was a cute Schnauzer, and look very normal and loving as a 6 month old pet.

He became 1 year old.  I was allowed take him to the dog park without my parents.

I realized he was too shy.  He didn´t like to play with other dogs either.

Later on, I realized he preferred to read.

Yes, read books!

When I was doing my homework, Dogma used to jump in my lap and stared at my homework books attentively.

Especially the social sciences books.  You know, Karl Marx, Hobbes, John Locke.  Even the bible!

But once I opened my comics or videogames magazines, he started to bark furiously.  He turned into another dog.

My mom took him to a pet shrink, and the diagnosis was: Borderline personality disorder!
